  Mobile Marketing Server

  OTA

Normally WAP-devices are already set up (starting page etc.) when you buy them.  A later change of these settings can be rather difficult. However, there is a possibility to automatically program those settings with SMS.

It is  also possible to program other settings such as bookmarks and WTLS. This way you can easily set up your customers for secure transactions, such as WAP-banking or the like.

There are 2 possibilities for remote programming:

Either the customer fills out a form on the web of the company, or the customer is sending an SMS with a special keyword to a certain phone number (can be toll-free numbers, such as  1800-CHECKCOM)

Initialising of settings through web site

The user enters the data on a web form and then the server sends the SMS right back to the mobile phone of the customer.

This way, people do not have to set up their own settings by themselves. All they have to do is fill out a form or send a special SMS.

The web form is within the companies web site. The user has to enter the mobile type, brand, phone number and -if needed- a special keyword.

Afterwards the customer clicks on the start button. A special softwar generates the code for the WAP mobile and sends it back to the customer automatically.

To send OTA messages you have to have a WAP server. The CheckCom Gateway can be used as an SMS Gateway.

  Initialising with SMS keyword

The customer sends an SMS to a certain phone number with a special keyword (for example Company A).  This SMS will be received by the CheckCom Server which will send back the special code for programming the customers mobile phone.

This way, people do not have to set up their own settings by themselves. All they have to do is fill out a form or send a special SMS.

For the receiving of  SMS´s a special GSM-PC-Application has to be installed  (Mobile Marketing Server-Rack) .  Only then can customers send SMS to the server for programming their WAP settings.

CheckCom offers this service as WASP : Customer companies can easily administrate over a web front end.

Possibilities of remote programming:

The following settings can be modified:

  Recipient numbers
  Mobile phone type/brand
  WAP Gateway - IP Address

Dialup Infos (Access Number, Type, Baud)
Dialup Authentication ( if needed )

  Nokia 7110

  Ericsson R320

Some mobile phones only allow for remote programming in some cases. For example bookmark programming or the like. Still, this service can also be very useful and CheckCom has integrated it too.
