CheckCom Server

This WAP-Server has the same functionality as a WAP-Gateway , but additionally content can be placed on the server like on a web-server. This content can be WML documents, images, CGI programs, server scripts and much more. An advantage is a shorter response time because no other server has to be contacted to fulfil a request. Through the use of server scripts it is possible to implement rather complex applications like handling Lotus Mail in a WAP interface on the ccWAP Server.

Server Script Language

Server Script Language
The entire processing of requests to the server as well as the starting of the server itself is steered with server scripts. This guarantees a great flexibility and makes customizable enviroments possible. Entire applications, which are based on the script language, can be implemented. The used script language is self-developed by CheckCom and only loosely related to JavaScript.

Configuration
The configuration of the CheckCom Server can be accomplished with man-made or automatically generated start-scripts. Another possibility is the use of the HTML-surface, which is completely implemented through server-scripts and can be customized at will.

System Requirements
The ccWAP Server is mostly platform independent, only the comparatively small core-component has to be ported to a new system. The following systems are supported:

Win32 (Windows 9.x, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000)
Linux
Sun OS
HP-UX
Other UNIXes ( on demand)

Memory Requirements
Memory usage is very modest: Depending on the application and the configuration, 4-8 Mbytes of main memory are needed and hardly more than 10 Mbytes of disk space are used. Is is even possible to set up the server in a way so that multiple systems (e.g. over NFS or on CD-ROM) can use the same installation simultaneously.

In the following components respectively packages are described which also can be used separately (it's a licence issue):

CheckCom MyMobileGateway™

MyMobileGateway™ - for Windows and Linux - which makes it possible to access data on your PC/Server with the WAP (GSM, GPRS und UMTS) - Gateway directly from your mobile phone.

With the MyMobileGateway™ by CheckCom you can save a great amount of money since you only pay the regular phone rates and not the expensive WAP rates.

Additionally MyMobileGateway™ gives you more security because the connection can be secured with WTLS.

This way, no data will get out of your companies intranet, while the connection speed is more better than with regular WAP.

Security through Encryption
The transmission of data can be encrypted For secure applications and transactions (i.e. eCommerce and mCommerce). This is made possible through electronic certificates. The CheckCom WAP-Gateway offers the following features:

Optimized conversion of WML into the corresponding binary format
Security WTLS Class 1 (Anonymous without server authenitification)
Security WTLS Class 2 (with server authentification)- Caution: This is not supported by all mobile phones at this time.
Key-exchange and encryption with sophisticated cryptography (RSA from 1024 Bit, RC5 with 128 Bit, Hash with SHA-1)

Server Possibilities

For example, you can create an access to your own PC at home. This enables you to dial-in to your home computer with your mobile phone, no matter where you are and access any information you have stored on the PC or even start certain applications and actions.

A company can install a WAP-gateway in its intranet and give their external employees to access company-related information with a WAP-mobile. The connection can be secured with WTLS, which means that no sensitive company data will be intercepted.

CheckCom Web Server
Standard HTTP/ 1.0 compatible web-server, which can serve static content and also can execute CGI programs and server scripts. Optionally, the connection can be secured by TLS 1.0 or SSL 3.0.

CheckCom Proxy Server
A proxy-server plays the role of an agent between the web-browser or another web-client and the internet. With the help of a proxy-server users can use the internet in a controlled way, e.g. through a firewall. Furthermore, a proxy can be used as a filter (e.g. suppressing the referrer-header for security) or to cache documents. It is possible to create "off-line" caches and to index them for later searching. Because ccWAP Proxy-Server can also ac t as a web-server, it is possible to create virtual sites or to hide real sites.

CheckCom Browser Server
The ccWAP Browser-Server is a special web-server emulating W AP-capable devices. It converts WML pages into HTML which can be displayed using a JavaScript enabled web-browser. Different "skins" are available, e.g. for the Nokia 6210. The ccWAP Browser supports all the functionality of WML 1.3. In doing its work the WAP-Browser connects to other servers to fetch WML documents and images, and it is able to use a proxy-server or a WAP-Gateway, if required. Since the ccWAP Browser is a web-server it can be used to serve many users simultaneously in an intranet or the internet.
