Mobile Gateway from CheckCom

 

A WAP-Gateway makes it possible for mobile devices to access content located on the internet. The gateway takes requests from WAP-capable devices and connects to other servers to get the content (WML documents, images). 

 

Then responses are converted to a format suitable for the mobile device if necessary and retumed to the device. 

 

In case of security related applications (e-commerce) the transmission can be encrypted and the gateway can be authenticated using electronic certificates.

The ccWAP Gateway offers, besides others, the following features:

Optimising conversion of WML to the corresponding binary format
Security with WTLS Class 1 (anonymous without server authentication)

Security with WTLS Class 2 (with server authentication), currently only supported by the Nokia 7110 and the Nokia 62l0

Key exchange und bulk encryption using strong cryptography (RSA with 1024 Bit and more, RC5 with 128 Bit, Hash with SHA-l)
Currently only the temporary connection mode (connection-less WSP) is supported.

 

There are many possibilities to bring the ccWAP Gateway and the ccWAP Server into action:

With the help of the dialup-server functionality of Windows you can set up GSM access to your computer where also the ccWAP Gateway or the ccWAP Server is running. 

 

Then it is possible to access information on your computer at home or to initiate some actions on it when you are on the road simply by using a mobile device. 

A company can install a WAP-Gateway in its intranet in order to allow the outdoor staff to access company internal information by using a W AP-capable mobile phone. 

 

Connections can be secured by WTLS so no sensitive information can be tapped outside the company network.

The transmission of data can be encrypted For secure applications and transactions (i.e. eCommerce and mCommerce). This is made possible through electronic certificates.
